A continually update progress report on the creation of an exhibition/installation a homage to the lost and inspired by the artists own song ‘The 27’
No Time For Goodbyes
Dark and unforgiving In the cold and the rain Their cries never heard They’re falling slowly
In quiet desperation (they reach out) Hand in hand Like leaves in a breeze They are picked up and taken away
And then they slip away There’s no time for goodbyes Yes they slip away There’s no time for goodbyes
Orange coats bobbing on the restless sea A slow ballet turning float as far as the eye can see And my heart is yearning
And then they slip away There’s no time for goodbyes Yes they slip away There’s no time for goodbye
Mothers fathers sons and daughters Tears lost the salty waters Chasing rainbows fleeing storms so near – so far – just in sight but out of reach
And then they slip away There’s no time for goodbyes Yes they slip away There’s no time for goodbyes
Orange coats bobbing on the restless sea
They are you…and they are me
This project I hope to create a body of work which collection of works which honours the lost lives of desperate people, from as far afield as Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Eritrea and Sudan. Refugees fleeing civil and ethnic conflict and persecution because of their politics, religion and sexual orientation. Inspired by the New European’s Special investigation in February 2022.
