MOTH

Pete’s new flexible solo/duo/trio/combo – MOTH

“Acoustic rock meets bluesy folk for a laidback barfight. It’s every genre for themselves. Battle ensues. Everyone wins.”

Hot on the heels of Tcuphead, Beeblefish, and the Shaw:Clark Project, Pete Shaw unveils a dynamic new live band. This fluid ensemble – tentatively dubbed “MOTH” – boasts a superb line-up of established musicians, each with their own impressive careers in Jazz, Folk, and Rock. Janet Tomlinson’s soulful fiddle, Samantha Kate’s cello whispers, and the rhythmic tapestry woven by Andy Tinkler (bass), Annekka Johnson and Jason Thompson (percussion) form a vibrant backdrop for Pete’s original songs, with a treasure trove of new material simmering on the horizon. This isn’t just a band; it’s a musical conversation, a collaboration of seasoned voices finding fresh harmony. Already seasoned by gigs across the North East, including Crossing the Tyne Festival and beloved live music venues across the north East including North Shield’s ‘Three Tanners’, Newcastle’s ‘Blues & Bourbon’, ‘Billy Bootleggers’, Tynemouth’s Arches/Alfie & Finn’s and Whitley Bay’s ‘Ticket Office’, Moth are poised to make its mark on the regional scene and beyond.

You can always expect a brilliant performance from Pete, an accomplished songwriter who consistently delivers high quality performances of his own solo material.John smith – Alfie & Finn’s Tynemouth 2023
